BB Cream!!!

Ahh....The Wonderful World of BB Cream :)

What is this elusive BB Cream? Let me first point out, it's mostly elusive to us ladies in the US. Take a little trip to Korea or Japan and you will find that this is the craze! I first came across this product on a blog for Japanese cosmetics. I started doing some research and I was amazed by the popularity. People, I have arrived. May I introduce to you, BB Cream....

I am going to give a brief background on BB cream that I found on the web. If you don't care for the FYI's and info just skip on down to the next paragraph :). BB cream (BB stands for Blemish Balm), supposedly it started in Germany; doctors gave this to thier patients after intense laser surgery. The balm helped sooth their sensitive skin and prevented irritants, discoloration and acne. How it got to Korea and other Asian countries, eventually becoming a common cosmetic item?...unknown.

It would appear as though SIMA Forencos was the first BB cream to come out. At $110.00 USD you get a whopping 0.7 fl oz....that is sarcasm people. A little certainly goes a long way but that is quiet the splurge for most of us. The second most popular brand is A.H.C. which is a huge hit in Korea. It is on the same quality level as Forencos and you get 1.6 fl oz, it costs anywhere from $64-$104.00 depending on where you buy it. I found www.lunabeauty.com to be my favorite resource for the time being. They have a wide variety of different brands as well, ranging in all prices.

I also did a video on BB cream where I apply my morning makeup, you can find it on Youtube, the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9vojFQ8FUM

The laundry list of BB creams could be infinite for all I know. When I started my search I stumbled on this growing nomenclature: BRTC, Face Shop, Dr. Jart +, Skin Food, Missha, Hanskin, Skin79, and many more!!! Exhausting but exciting all at the same time.

I am currently using A.H.C. and I absolutely love it, it has actually become of my holy grails overnight! My skin looks better then ever and I use it as a base under my tinted moisturizer at all times.

Let me know if you have any exciting stories about BB cream and how it's worked for you!

  1. thanks for the info! Lately, I've been researching for the best bb creams via online and in the various shops in Ktown in California. Online, it seemed that BRTC and Dr. Jart were the best, but at the shops in Ktown, they all told me Forencos and AHC and Cellabel were the best. One person even told me BRTC was for kids in Korea... So I'm wondering, why the discrepancy in the info. How did you come to conclude that Forencos and AHC were the best? Personally I'm very close to buying AHC since the Korean ladies in the shops rave about it, but I'm unsure because I don't hear about it online much. It's also quite the investment, so I wanna make sure my money is worthwhile. Thanks for the help!
